Portsmouth Real Estate and Home Settings –

Located just north of University Park and east of St. John’s, Portsmouth real estate is a cost effective housing area for students of and employees of Swan island’s industrial area.  Not more than about 20 minutes to downtown Portland the setting is fairly convenient.   Average size is a common 5000’ and level, similar to much of urban Portland.  Established vegetation with a natural feel and overall look.  If you’re not into the completely manicured front lawn that’s fine with the neighbors.   Browse all Portsmouth real estate for Sale immediately.

Homes are a smorgasbord of vintages starting in the early 1900’s up through 2011. Local Shopping –

Below average.  Cesar Chavez elementary 3, Astor elementary 9, Cesar Chavez middle,  Roosevelt high .  Ratings are based from 1 (worst) through 10 (best) and come from the greatschools.org website at time of writing.  Roosevelt received $7.7 million in federal funds to revitalize and improve performance

Below average  income.  Ethnically and socially diverse.

Northgate City Park, Columbia City Park, Portsmouth City Park, Cathedral Park with off-leash dog area

Attractions –

St. John’s bridge.  Close proximity to Forest parks 20 miles of trails and nature.

Public Transportation –

Bus route in the area but car dependent for most residents.  Interstate St. MAX train line will require parking the car at a park and ride center.  A lot of bicyclists.
