Mt. Tabor Real Estate, Home Settings –

Real estate in the Mt. Tabor neighborhood of SE Portland is mainly set on flat land at the base of a mountain (a volcanic cinder cone I believe, and really more of a huge lump than towering mountain).  Being part of one of the highest points in a cool city has its perks.  Homes located next to desirable parks will escalate price, add view potential for those few residences situated on the hill itself and you’ve got a super appealing combination.  Adjoining the well-known Hawthorne District it’s close to shopping and Portlandish character.  Mature deciduous trees and vegetation split up by the common sidewalk.  Green and fairly manicured landscapes cover rectangular inner-city sized lots.  Revitalized over the past 10 years this has become a somewhat gentrified setting of successful results.  Culture, class and diversity make Mount Tabor’s eclectic blend of business and homes a big hit.  Walkscore tends to be “very walkable”, near  70.  Browse all Portland Homes for Sale immediately.

Mt. Tabor Homes For Sale, Prices –

Homes are higher priced than most close-in SE Portland locations, averaging over $350k.  Detached homes for sale are pretty much the only option, although there are a few condos and attached housing options of the fringes of this neighborhood.  2 bedroom homes of 1200’ enter our Mt. Tabor market below $250k and may be quite original (in need of update).  Desirable larger 4 bedroom homes of 2500 square feet easily push over the $400k price point pushing in what could be considered luxury Portland real estate.  Prices for high-end Mount Tabor homes with views will go above $800k.  A good mix of price ranges keep options open to a variety of buyers competing for this affordable location.   Compare Mt. Mt. Tabor Home Styles –

You’ll find classic detached Mount Tabor homes are centered around early 1900’s construction but not exclusive to a 10 year period so architecture does vary.  Home style boasts character, no cookie cutters here.  Bungalow, English tudor and craftsman, and cottages are labels used to define Mount Tabor real estate.  Steep roof lines with dormers and corbels, bold window surrounds and millwork make these homes pop!  Single level layouts are complimented with bonus basement bedrooms or recreational spaces below ground.  In multi-story homes bedrooms upstairs make use of the steep roof pitches and break up the standard bedroom cube shape with angled accents.  Sized average near 2000’ for but can push 3000’ on the upper end.  Home Styles in this neighborhood are reminiscent of some of the earliest construction in Portland and retain original built-in cabinets, box beamed ceilings and detailed mahogany finishes.  Garages are small, detached or non-existent in many cases with smaller homes.  On-street parking or single car driveways are typical.
