Hawthorne District Neighborhood, SE Portland
Feel , Known For –
The Hawthorne District is one of the most unique, and most popular southeast Portland neighborhoods. Ever heard Portlandia TV show? Parts were obviously filmed here for stereotype entertainment. Known for the lack of formal business look, catering to the eclectic. Liberal residents thrive on being as much the opposite of a cliché downtown business person as possible. Piercings and tattoos are welcome sights and quite common. Outdoor loving modern day hippies, hipsters, educated, environmentalists, activists, friendly, whatever you want to call the locals, it’s a free spirited neighborhood. Small unique stores, cafes and coffee shops… no big chain department stores. Cool place to hang out, just don’t drive the BMW SUV… you’ll look like a tourist.

Some are in fantastic remodeled condition brought up to today’s standards while keeping with a early 1900’s look. Plumbing and electrical can still be found in original condition in some homes and countless projects are around every corner.
