Goose Hollow Neighborhood, SW Portland

Feel , Known For –

Goose Hollow is one of Portland’s quieter downtown neighborhoods and home to some of the oldest dining establishments.  Situated near popular attractions like Multnomah Athletic Club and Jeld-Wen Field (formerly PGE baseball Park) it’s ideal for limiting housing cost while still being very close to our city center.  Washington Park, Japanese Garden, and the International Rose Test Gardens are also huge attractions, not to mention popular with tourists.  Convenience of being in the city is offered yet real estate is not that expensive.  King’s Heights neighborhood is nestled in the same vicinity and between the two there are some really cool historic Portland homes.  The majority of Goose Hollow neighborhood’s housing comes in the form of condos.  More on Portland real estate and Portland neighborhoods…

Goose Hollow Home & Condo Styles –

Detached homes are scarce. Being built around the turn of the century some houses are even listed in Portland’s Historic Register.  They’ve got style.  Narrow Victorians make use of small city lots while larger lots produced large mansions.  Typical space between homes is 10 feet or less, density is always a requirement for inner cities housing.  Condos are the prominent option and built anywhere from about 1960 to 2008.  Units have been updated in some cases but the majority retain original 1960 – 1970 systems and finishes.  If you’re looking for a project unit near downtown there’s no shortage.  Buildings may be 10+ stories tall unlike the towers as seen in Portland’s South Waterfront neighborhood.
