Burlingame Neighborhood, SW Portland

Feel , Known For –

The Burlingame neighborhood is a more laid back suburban community type setting.  Residential mixed with commercial developments, not high end but affordable SW Portland real estate.  Owners are not necessarily interested in a particularly manicured setting, more gardener type landscape.  Not a rushed feeling here and more blue collar than white.  Good rural sense of environment but still within 10 minutes of downtown.  More on Portland real estate and Portland neighborhoods…

Burlingame Home Settings –

Homes in Burlingame are set on sloped topography often but terracing is not the norm.  Mature trees and landscaping with suburban warmth of being close-in.  Freeway noise is apparent in some homes but once inside it’s seldom noticed.  Other houses are so nestled within the tree strewn hills that you could be anywhere within Portland.  More inclined to see flowers and owners taking care of gardens than focusing on hiring the landscaper to tend to the shrubs.  Roads do not always have curbs and sidewalks.  Lot size is about 4 – 8000’, bigger than in the city.  Car dependant with a 40 of 100 Walkscore.  Browse all Burlingame homes for Sale immediately.

Burlingame Home Styles –

Entry level homes start as condos and there are a few handfull of these 1960’s condos.  Newer townhouse style construction isn’t real prominent in this area.  A few new home builders are able to take advantage of the minimal available land but mainly older 1950’s ranch style homes dominate, averaging 2000 square feet.  The norm is a running mid-century classic single story with basement  or cape cod.  1940’s coved and high ceilings add character but they’re not overdone with intricate detail or finishes.  Originally designed as a working class neighborhood and still is for the most part.
