When first entering the neighborhood it’ll be overly apparent that this is hip Portland real estate.  Front porches, porticos and covered entryways are everywhere keeping homes feeling true to their old-world roots.  Buckman home styles include Victorian, craftsman, traditional and old-Portland designs.  Roof lines vary in height but have a steep pitch in most cases with artsy eave overhangs.  Dormers of varying shape pop out, breaking up architecture and add character.  Scalloped cedar shingles with heavy barge rafters with matching corbels add flair as well.  Moving to the interior you’ll find spectacular restoration and tons of built-ins, pocket doors, inlaid hardwood floors and gourmet kitchen remodels.  Craftsman detail is pronounced in dark stained mahogany baseboard, doors, picture and chair rail.  Purple and yellow color schemes welcome.  In fact, boardering on funky is quite welcome and the artsier the better.  Living spaces are on the main floor and bedrooms upstairs.  Basements are usable, finished and not.  Garages are often single car detached or attached, most homes have them.  Homes are well-kept in appearance overall!

Above average income.  Socially diverse, some ethnic.  Residents are blue & white collar mix.  Probably a bigger draw towards singles and younger couples.  A melting pot of culture and character.
