Belmont Neighborhood, SE Portland

Feel , Known For –

This Portland neighborhood is very popular for experiencing stereotypes, Portlandia TV show could have been filmed here in part.  Known for café’s and eateries, clean and cool classic SE Portland modern day 1960’s peace.  Use your bike or walk, forget the car.  Paint your house purple with bright green trim and get away with it!  Nowhere else in the city does this fit in.  Art and herb gardens in the front yard.  Worth a drive through the area.  More on Portland real estate and the Belmont neighborhood…

Belmont Home Settings –

Small lots often 2000 sq. ft. and seldom over 5000.  Green space between sidewalk and street, old growth deciduous trees, walker friendly, relatively flat.  No mailboxes, mail delivered on foot to front door.  Classic, clean kept mainly but there are a few art types embracing the non-traditional yard setup.  Inner SE Portland, Belmont Street runs through this area strangely enough.  From 12th avenue to approximately 60th and about 4 blocks to the north of Belmont St., 3 blocks to the south.  Browse all Belmont Homes for Sale immediately.

Belmont Home Prices –

1 bedroom condos from low $100’s but typical detached homes run $300 – $400k+.  Many of the would-be owners who frequent the neighborhood simply can’t afford it.  Not the cheapest trendy area!  Search all Portland Homes for Sale.

Belmont Home Styles –

1890’s Victorians, old Portland craftsman early 1900’s, some new contemporary condos.  One of the few locations that owners can get away with green and purple paint schemes, in fact, it’s practically a requirement for Victorians.  Small condos well under 1000’, detached homes pushing 5000’ but averaging 3000 (including basements).  Often basement ceiling height is marginal to be considered usable by people much over 6’ tall.

Safeway on Hawthorne Blvd, Zupan’s on Belmont, New Seasons on Hawthorne Blvd, and Fred Meyer are all under 1/2 mile away.  Walk to all of them.

Sunnyside elementary, Mt Tabor middle, Cleveland high, Franklin high

Demographics –

Younger generations, 20’s, 30 somethings, mixed genre, not the white collar look.  Tattoos and piercings welcome, hemp clothing, no suits.
