The Aloha area of Beaverton provides older and newer neighborhoods. Like most areas surrounding Portland land is at a premium. If you're lucky enough to find a vacant lot figure on paying close to $100k with utilities at the right of way. Owners of larger lots, 10,000 square feet or larger, have seen the opportunity to develop. With changes to the real estate economy in 2008 there are fewer small builders able to pursue subdivisions. Nevertheless, larger companies like Arbor, Centex, and DR Horton are snatching up land left and right whenever possible and hedging bets against our inevitable growing housing needs.
Projections of population growth for the next 15 years are staggering if we continue along the same rate as in years past. By the year 2025 Beaverton could see 185,000 citizens. Infrastructure and mass transit (MAX or Light Rail) have already been set in place. Higher density housing exists along these corridors and open-air malls are taking advantage of the housing attraction. Cedar Hills Crossing recently undwent more than just a facial redesign in late 2005. Trendy shops like New Seasons Markets cater to a more diverse crowd than ever before. There is a golf specialty store and it wouldn't be the Northwest without at least a couple of competing baristras within arms length of eachother!
